The council aims to become net zero carbon by 2030 for the council and 2050 for the borough. 

By 2050, businesses and organisations in the London Borough of Merton must help to build a low carbon economy in Merton, by: working to reduce supply chain emissions and provide local, sustainable, and healthy products while minimising waste; and avoiding investment in or procuring from companies which produce high emissions.
